1. Coverage "A" Liability Insurance Coverage.
You must have it. It is the law.
These are amounts/limits your insurance carrier will pay to the person or object you hit.
Not to fix your vehicle
Make sure you have enough coverage. You can be sued in court if you do not carry enough insurance.
2. Coverage "B" Medical Payments.
This coverage only applies while you are occupying your vehicle.
No, you can NOT use it if you break your arm riding your skateboard.
It is optional. You may not necessarily need it.
3. Coverage "C" Uninsured Motorist Coverage.
The name says it all, and you better have it in California, because there are a lot of uninsured motorists out there.
This will provide Coverage for you and your passengers if injured by someone who is driving without insurance. You can also have uninsured motorist property damage that will help repair your vehicle as well.
This is valuable one of the most valuable coverages and I strongly recommend it.
4. Coverage "D" Physical Damage Coverage. Also known as Comprehensive and Collision. Or Comp and Collision. This is coverage for your vehicle.
If you have an accident or your car is stolen, do you want it fixed or replaced?
If so, then you need this coverage.
5. "Rental Car". This is the 1st thing people always ask when they have an accident,
"Do I have rental car coverage? Do you?
If you have Comprehensive and/or Collision, then you should have rental car. This will help pay for a rental car, so you can get back on the road while your car is being repaired or replaced.
Don't wait till it is too late. Get your insurance reviewed by a professional to make sure you have the coverage you need.
